Voice
of the People
There are now three 'Voice of the People' (VOTP) Community Choirs.
These are 'non-audition' choirs and everyone is welcome to join.
New members of all ages and abilities are welcome to join our
choirs. We enjoy songs, rounds and chants from around the world.
VOTP
performs at street events, and for charity, and has toured to
Krakow, Prague and Moravia. We visited Rome during Autumn 2011.

Building
Bridges - Singing with the Ancestors Choir
Thursdays from 11-1pm in Studio 20
£5 per session
Come and be part of a choir that builds bridges between people
and cultures and enjoy a celebration of traditional Zimbabwean
and English songs. There is no need to be able to read music as
songs are taught aurally, or to have any special skills, just
come and have fun. Chartwell Dutiro and Yvette Staelens run the
choir and they believe that everyone can sing. Yvette is a trained
Natural Voice Practitioner and an enthusiastic workshop leader
who currently leads the Voice of the People Community Choir in
Bridgewater. Chartwell is an all round musician and charismatic
teacher who grew up in Zimbabwe playing mbira and singing for
all night ritual ceremonies and public performances. Participants
will learn songs, rounds and chants from each tradition, and everyone
is welcome. Contact: sinead@bridgwaterartscentre.co.uk
