| Folk
Duo to sing Somerset
songs at Butcombe
|
Roots
Quartet are Yvette
Staelens and Michelle
Hicks - and yes, there
are only two of them!
They are booked to
perform at Butcombe
on November 11.
They have wonderful
voices, a sense of
fun and the ability
to grip an audience
totally |
| 'They
are consummate experts
in their field, entertainers
with a faultless,
instinctively organic
feel for their audiences'
- Folk on Tap. |
| An
evening with the Roots
Quartet is not one
to be missed. Their
show, Somerset Sisters,
is a celebration of
the remarkable countrywomen
of Somerset who gave
folk song collector,
Cecil Sharp, their
songs nearly 100 years
ago. |
From
Mrs Overd in Langport
he heard 'Wraggle
Taggle Gypsies'. Who
knows, you might discover
that it was your great
granny that sang to
Sharp a centurey ago.
Roots Quartet have
performed across the
country and have featured
on television and
any local radio stations
as well as BBC Radio
2 and BBC world service. |
